I began playing tennis when I was 7 years old. This sport has always been a huge part of my life. I have made friends I will have forever, developed strong relationships with my coaches and have learned to be both a gracious winner and a gracious loser. I have also learned that hard work pays off.
Tennis is an incredibly difficult sport. It demands physical fitness as well as mental focus. The only other person on the court is your opponent. You are not surrounded by teammates. You need to think and strategize on your own. You need to pick yourself up. Keep yourself calm. Your body and your mind are your only resources.
This sport requires a mental toughness that is unsurpassed by any other sport. Tennis has taught me lessons that are impossible to learn anywhere but on the court.
It is why I love this sport so much.
It is why I want every student to have access to and be able to play tennis.
